Rudolph Herman Radtke -- Plainview

PLAINVIEW -- The funeral for Rudolph Herman Radtke will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna, with the Rev. Dean Smith officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Radtke, 78, of Owatonna, formerly of Plainview and Elgin, died Tuesday (April 27, 2004) at Cedarview Nursing Home in Owatonna.

He was born April 15, 1926, in Coon Valley, Wis., and attended school in Elgin. When he was 17, he enlisted in the Army, was stationed in the Philippine Islands and in Japan, and after serving in the Army, joined the Air Force and painted aircraft. Following his discharge, he returned to the area and worked for the American Legion and Lakeside Packing Co. in Plainview. He was a welder and worked in a variety of other jobs. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Eagles. His interests included fishing and collecting trains, stamps and coins.

Survivors include two brothers, Herbert (Deloris) of Elgin and Reuben (Ruth) of Owatonna. A sister preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and an hour before the service Friday at the funeral home.
