AUSTIN -- The funeral for Ruth G. Hertle will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in Austin, with the Rev. Patricia M. Toschak officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Austin.
Mrs. Hertle, 84, a resident of the Adams Health Care Center, formerly of Austin, died Monday (Aug. 19, 2002) at the care center.
Ruth G. Hubbard was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Moscow Township, Freeborn County, and attended Austin schools. On Oct. 14, 1933, she married Alfred "Ted" Hertle in Austin. They lived in Austin, later farmed in the Brownsdale-Waltham area for 30 years and returned to Austin following retirement. Mrs. Hertle also was a cook at the Austin Country Club for 20 years. Her husband died in 1997. She moved into Adams Assisted Living in February 2001. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Austin and its women's circle.
Survivors include a son, Arnold (Evelyn) of Rochester; a daughter, Shirley (Lowell) Sorg of Austin; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Two sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
