PLAINVIEW -- The funeral for Ruth May Wood will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Community Presbyterian Church in Plainview, with the Rev. Paul Moore officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview.
Mrs. Wood, 91, of Plainview, a former farm homemaker, died Monday (Oct. 18, 2004) at Hillcrest Community Care Center in Plainview.
Ruth May Carleton was born July 9, 1913, in Plainview Township, Wabasha County, graduated from Plainview High School in 1930 and attended Winona Business College. She worked at First National Bank in Plainview. On June 12, 1939, she married Stanley Wood at the Presbyterian Church in Plainview. They farmed east of Plainview until 1977, when they retired and moved into Plainview. Mr. Wood died in 1993. She was a member of Presbyterian Women's Association and Hillcrest Auxiliary, volunteered for the Bloodmobile and Meals-on-Wheels and took in mending for the community.
Survivors include three sons, Charles (LouAnn) of Cincinnati, Keith (Cindy) of Alturas, Calif., and Alton (Eileen) of Plainview; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Schad &; Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview, where there will be a prayer service at 8:30 p.m., and an hour before the service Friday at the church.
