ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Ruth R. Goetting will be 11 a.m. Friday at Macken Colonial Chapel in Rochester, with the Rev. Douglas J. Gits officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
Mrs. Goetting, 90, of Palm Bay, Fla., formerly of Rochester, died Wednesday (Aug. 21, 2002) at her daughter's home in Palm Bay.
Ruth Gummert was born Sept. 21, 1911, in Renville, Minn. Her first husband, Thomas H. Roberts, preceded her in death. On Aug. 20, 1940, she married G. Lester Goetting and he died Sept. 21, 1990. Mrs. Goetting worked in the hotel industry in her early years and later managed and owned several hotels. She operated a resort in Brainerd, Minn., prior to moving to Delray Beach, Fla., following her retirement in 1972. She had lived in Palm Bay since 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty LaDow of Palm Bay and Peggy (Warren) Erler of La Crosse, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Two infant sons, a brother and four sisters preceded her in death.
Friends may call an hour before the service Friday at the funeral home.
