Search continues for Wisconsin man wanted for bigamy

Post-Bulletin, Rochester MN

MANTORVILLE — Dodge County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a 39-year-old Racine, Wis., man wanted on a rare bigamy charge.

Michael Lee Henderson was expected to make his first court appearance on Wednesday in Dodge County District court. He didn’t show up, and a warrant was issued.

Dodge County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jim Trihey said today that Henderson remains at large, but deputies expect to make an arrest soon.

The complaint in the case alleges that Henderson married his first wife in Wisconsin in 1995, then met a woman in Rochester and married her in Mantorville last year.

Dodge County Sheriff Gary Thompson said authorities found out about the second marriage from the first wife.

He said that in his 31 years in the sheriff’s office, he can’t remember anyone else being charged with bigamy. It’s a felony punishable by prison time and hefty fines.
