SENIOR CALENDAR Tuesday, Sept. 9

The Golden Generation Show, featuring exhibits and seminars for seniors, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Mayo Civic Center. A celebration in honor of the show's 10 anniversary will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

Wednesday, Sept. 10

The Rochester International Association's speakers luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. in Balfour Hall at the Rochester Family Y. An Italian lunch prepared by Fred Regal will be served, followed by a presentation on Italy. Cost: $7.50, or $6.50 for members of RIA or the Y. Reservations: 289-0839.

"Streetcar Named Desire" continues at the St. Mane Theatre in Lanesboro. The Commonweal Theatre Company's production can be seen Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through October and then Thursdays through Sundays through Dec. 16. "Bye Bye Birdie" continues at Rochester Civic Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday shows are at 8 p.m. and Sunday shows are at 2 p.m. The musical will be staged through Sept. 21.

Saturday, Sept. 13

Friends of Chester Woods may participate in various activities at the park. From noon to 4:30 p.m. there will be lakeshore cleanup from land or water. From 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. join Joel Dunnette for an interpretive hike through some of the natural areas of the park. At 6 p.m. there will be a potluck dinner. Bring a dish to pass, and your own beverage and eating utensils. At 9:30 p.m. join a group of moonlight paddlers for a trip on the lake. Bring your own watercraft. The swaying sounds of doo-wop music will be heard during the "Class of 1957 Oldies Spectacular" at 7:30 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre in Austin. Tickets are $16, $14 and $12 in advance, $18, $16, $14 at the door. Information: 434-0934.

"For the Love of Place" exhibit opens with landscape paintings by Corene Bernatz at the Rochester Art Center. An opening reception will be from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. with a gallery talk at 8:45 p.m. The exhibit runs through Oct. 19. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Information: 282-8629.
