Rochester Garden and Flower Club will meet at Southeast Service Cooperative, 210 Woodlake Drive S.E., Rochester. The evening will include the seventh Annual Plant Swap and Auction from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., open library for members at 7 p.m., and a monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will feature "Spring 2002 European Garden Tour," a presentation by club members of their spring trip. Spring Valley Garden Club Flower Show will be held from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Spring Valley Servicemen's Club.

Rhythm dancing, sponsored by the southern Minnesota chapter of the U.S. Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association, will be held in Fred Reed Hall at Rochester Senior Center (this is not a function of the center). Free dance lessons will be from 7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m., and general dancing from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. All ages welcome. No partner necessary. Smoke-free ballroom. Information: 281-1034.

Saturday, Aug. 17

Independent films, made in Austin and Hollywood, will begin showing at 6:30 p.m. at Paramount Theater, Austin. Admission: $5, which benefits the Paramount.

History of Forestville State Park dramatic presentation will begin at 8 p.m. at the park amphitheater. A costumed interpreter will portray Eliza Jane Foster, who journeyed upriver from Galena, Ill., in 1854 with her husband and two young daughters. Horseshoe pitching begins at 9 a.m. each Monday at Central Park, Rochester. All levels of experience welcome.
