PHOENIX (AP) — The main suspect in the Phoenix area’s Serial Shooter attacks has been convicted of six murders and could be sentenced to death.
Jurors on Friday acquitted Dale Hausner of two of the murders that prosecutors said he committed during a monthslong shooting spree in 2005 and 2006 during which not even dogs and horses were safe from attack.
Hausner, a former janitor, has denied any involvement in the attacks. Authorities say he shot at people from his car in a conspiracy that occasionally included his brother and a former roommate, Samuel Dieteman.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Hausner. The trial’s penalty phase begins March 23.
