Several traffic closures and changes are coming next week due to the work on the U.S. 52 expansion project.

The 14th Street Northwest southbound U.S. 52 on- and off-ramp will close permanently starting Monday, as part of the reconstruction project. Highway officials said the ramps are too close to the U.S. 52/Civil Center Drive interchange for people to merge safely into traffic. New ramps will be moved closer to 14th Street Northwest to facilitate safe merging.

The Civic Center Drive interchange is being rebuilt as part of the four-year, $232 million project.

Traffic in the left lane of southbound U.S. 52 near the Mayowood Bridge will be closed Monday from 8:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. to move a crane from the median to the west side of the highway. The state patrol will be directing traffic.

Seventh Street Northwest under the U.S. 52 bridge also will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Traffic will be redirected to 19th Street Northwest via the frontage roads. The closure is due to demolition activity on the southbound portion of the bridge.

On Wednesday, there will be lane closures on 11th Avenue Northwest and 16th Avenue Northwest. The closures will be during nonpeak daytime and nighttime hours, but the work will shut off water for residents and businesses south of 11th Avenue Northwest between the hours of 10 p.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. Thursday. The dates are subject to weather conditions.
