Shaughnessy sets records en route to Rockets win

Jenny Shaughnessy set two pool records as John Marshall beat Albert Lea at home 94-86 in girls swimming and diving Tuesday.

Shaughnessy, a state champion a year ago, set a JM pool mark in the 200-yard individual medley with a winning time of 2:07.56. She set a pool and school record of 59.36 in the 100 backstroke.

"She's feeling a lot more comfortable in the water," JM coach Paul Bachman said. "She's training hard."

Shaughnessy was also a part of two winning relays. She teamed with Jaclyn Blank, Sydney Kuramoto and Mary Wood to win the 200 medley relay in 2:01.35. She joined Theresa Vea, Wood and Blank to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:48.93.

JM's 200 freestyle relay of Vea, Wood, Natalie Juncos and Jena Arnold won in 1:48.74.
