Sheriff says Winona driver was texting before fatal crash

ROLLINGSTONE — The Winona County Sheriff's Office has determined that a man killed in a one-vehicle accident in Winona County on April 19 was text messaging just before the crash.
Sheriff Dave Brand said the driver of the vehicle, Blake Aaron Eckert, 18, of Winona, was "texting before he lost control and crashed into the ditch."
The accident happened about 4:30 p.m. on Winona County Road 25 between Lewiston and Rollingstone.
Passengers Brandon Lee Lockwood, 18, of Rollingstone, and Jonathan Joe Light, 24, of Winona, were injured.
