AUSTIN -- The funeral for Shirley Maxine Maxey will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin, with the Rev. Harold Deye officiating.
Mrs. Maxey, 76, of Austin, died at Homestead Hospice House of Owatonna on Wednesday (Aug. 23, 2006).
Shirley Maxine Haney was born Sept. 11, 1929, in Austin, and graduated from Austin High School in 1947. She married Gene Maxey on Oct. 25, 1954, in Sioux Falls, S.D. A member of Grace Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, she enjoyed playing cards, making ceramics, eating out, collecting Beanie Babies, gardening, bird-watching, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, William (Lori) of Owatonna and James (Pam) of Chicago; a daughter, Shirlene (Tom) Wagner of Owatonna; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a sister, Grace (Ed) Clark; and a brother, Richard (Nancy) Haney. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and a great-grandson.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and an hour before the service Saturday at the church.
