Sister Frances Marie Nuss -- Rochester

ROCHESTER -- A funeral Mass for Sister Frances Marie Nuss will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes at Assisi Heights, with the Rev. Gerald Conway officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Sister Frances Marie, 87, a Franciscan Sister of the Congregation of Our Lady of Lourdes, who served in domestic care, died this morning (July 17, 2002) at Assisi Heights.

Frances Philipine Nuss was born Feb. 5, 1915, in Dickinson, N.D., and entered the Franciscan Congregation from St. Pius Parish in St. Pius, N.D. She made her profession of vows in 1941 and began her ministry of care at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester. She also served at Mercy Hospital in Portsmouth, Ohio, and visited patients at Saint Marys until her retirement to Assisi Heights in 1991. She celebrated her diamond jubilee in 2001.

Survivors include her Franciscan community; three sisters, Pauline Weiler of Great Falls, Mont., S. Joan Nuss of Bismarck, N.D., and Agatha Thoene of Hartington, Neb.; and a brother, Jerome Frank of Mott, N.D.

Friends may call at Assisi Heights for the 6:30 p.m. wake service Thursday and until time of the service Friday.
