AUSTIN — Rochester Mayo made it look easy in a doubleheader with Austin on Tuesday, blasting the Packers 5-0 and 11-0, the latter in five innings.
"Mayo’s bats really came alive and Sarah (Bohlen) pitched a fine (second) game, staying out of trouble and letting her defense work for her," Mayo coach Steve Riles said.
The Spartans jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second inning of Game 1, then never looked back. Courtney Palmer had a two-run hit in the frame. Emily Jasperson went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs batted in.
Kalli Clark was the winning pitcher. She tossed a three-hitter.
