Softball | PEM tops Lourdes

Post-Bulletin staff

Plainview-Elgin-Millville issued 13 walks on Monday against Rochester Lourdes and got away with it.

The Bulldogs slipped past the Eagles 6-4 in non-conference softball, overcoming sloppy pitching with sloppy fielding by Lourdes. The Eagles committed six errors, and all six of the runs off Lourdes pitcher Lindsay Frie were unearned.

The Bulldogs were led by Amanda Hippe and Genna Holtorf, each with two hits.

Lourdes coach Doc Johnson went away frustrated.

"Sometimes you have it (as a team) and sometimes you don’t," he said. "This was one of those times when we didn’t have it. But we are so much better than this. That’s what irks you as a coach."

Lourdes is 2-4 overall and hosts Cannon Falls at 5 p.m. today at Soldiers Field.
