RUSHFORD -- The Southland volleyball team a dropped a four-game match to Rushford-Peterson on Thursday night.
R-P took the first game of the Three Rivers Conference match by a 25-18 score. The visiting Rebels came back to win the second game 25-18 and tie the match at a game apiece.
The momentum in the conference clash then turned in the third game as the two teams battled right to the end. R-P pulled it out 25-23 and then went on to win the match with a 25-19 triumph in the fourth game.
Southland statistics included: Ashton May 12 kills, 3 ace serves, 2 blocks; Callie Erie 11 kills; 2 blocks, Marie Boe 13-13 serving, 6 kills; 4 digs; Heather Wilson 27 set assists, 4 kills.
R-P (4-8, 3-5) statistics: Marissa Grimsrud 34 set assists; Savannah Sawle 11 kills, 4 blocks; Ashley Vix 15-15 serving, 2 aces, 6 kills, 9 digs; Melissa Smith 14-14 serving, 2 ace serves, 6 kills; Leah Christian 13 digs.
