Spencer Anton Olson Sr. -- Austin

AUSTIN -- The funeral for Spencer Anton Olson Sr. will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin, with the Rev. Myrwood Bagne officiating. Burial will be in the Hollandale, Minn., Cemetery.

Mr. Olson, 86, of Austin, a retired businessman, died Sunday (March 24, 2002) at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin, where he had lived two years.

He was born March 19, 1916, in Blooming Prairie and served in the Navy during World War II. On April 18, 1943, he married Evelyn E. Babey in Chicago. They lived in Chicago until moving to Austin in 1978. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, an investment club, NAACP, AARP, VFW and Moose Club. He enjoyed karate, golf, reading, traveling and family gatherings.

Survivors include two sons, Dean of Chicago and Spencer A. Jr. of Minneapolis; three daughters, Barbara Orcutt of Austin, Beverly Smith of Los Angeles and Bobbie Topor of Sacramento, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and three brothers.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and an hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home.
