St. Charles will face Lewiston-Altura in semis

STEWARTVILLE -- St.; Charles pitcher Mike Kohn's control was on Thursday.

Kohn (7-1) struck out 13, walked none, and gave up two hits in a seven-inning shutout of Blooming Prairie in the Division II First District playoffs. St. Charles beat Blooming Prairie 6-0.

Reggie Stevens was 2-for-3 for St. Charles with a home run and two RBIs. Tommy Hagan and Eddie Denzer had two hits apiece.

St. Charles (23-4) faces Lewiston-Altura in the First District semifinals at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Blooming Prairie faces Dodge Center at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the losers bracket.

The loser of Saturday's semifinal game faces the winner of the losers bracket game, at 3 p.m. on Saturday. The winner advances to the finals at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Lewiston-Altura (11-12) advanced to the semifinals by beating Dodge Center 6-5 Thursday.

Tyler Peterson hit a two-run homer in the first inning to stake L-A to a lead it would never relinquish. Dodge Center staged a late three-run rally in the top of the seventh, but came up one run short.

Travis Spencer earned the win pitching the first six innings, striking out five and walking two. Micah Menges relieved Spencer midway through the seventh and earned the save.

Britton Wolf, the losing pitcher for Dodge Center (12-4), struck out 10 while walking just one.
