St. Paul man killed in Iowa collision

CASEY, Iowa -- One person was killed in a collision on Interstate 80 in western Iowa that shut down a portion of highway for several hours Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Leonard Marion Kemp, 51, of St. Paul died after his eastbound car crossed the median and hit a semitrailer in the westbound lane, the Iowa State Patrol said.

The accident happened about 2 p.m. near Casey. The westbound lanes were closed for about two hours.

The truck driver, Peter Housner, 28, of Chicago, was taken to a hospital in Greenfield, where he was treated and released.

Casey is about 50 miles west of Des Moines.
