ST. CLOUD -- Heavy rain caused street flooding up to 2 feet deep in St. Cloud Wednesday morning, and the fire department was called to rescue people from cars in flooded underpasses.
Stearns County authorities were advising no travel in the area.
The National Weather Service said more than 3 inches of rain fell within a short time around 6 a.m. over northern Stearns and northern Pope counties.
High wind accompanying the rain blew branches into power lines, causing sparks.
A sheriff's deputy reported some flooding in the Melrose, Sauk Centre and St. Rosa areas.
