The Austin Packers boys track and field team prepared for their big meet this weekend by putting on a strong performance in the home opener.
Mankato East and Rochester John Marshall joined Austin in Tuesday’s triangular meet at Wescott Field.
The Packers finished second behind Mankato East in the Big Nine Conference meet.
The Austin boys had a number of first-place finishes on the day.

This was the second meet of the season and the first time the Packers competed on their home track.
Ryan Duren led the way with a pair of first-place finishes.
Tim Erickson was part of two winning relay teams and also won the 800 meters. Kyle Dammen won the 3,200 meters.
Austin boys track and field team, along with the AHS girls, will host the Packer Invitational on Saturday.
The field events are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
