Student artwork sought for exhibit

Tastes Like Paint, the teen art group at the Rochester Art Center, is accepting submissions for a Tastes Like Paint curated exhibition to be held May 17 through June 7 in the East Studio of the art center.

The deadline for submissions is April 29. Eligible artists must be currently in grades 9-12 and enrolled as a student in the Southeast Minnesota area.

The working title of the exhibition is "The way we are, they way we were and the way we want to be." Artworks that involve interesting and compelling views of this theme should be considered and submitted. Unique works are encouraged.

Scholarship auditions planned


The eighth annual Pipe Organ Scholarship auditions for southeast Minnesota will be held on May 9 at the First Congregational Church UCC in Rochester at 9 a.m.

These awards fund one year of tuition for pipe organ study. The scholarships are provided by the Isabelle Dyck Fund of the Rochester Area Foundation. The auditions are facilitated by the Southeast Minnesota Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

Application requirements, information and forms may be obtained from the Web site, Petit Music or Schmitt Music.

Scholarship applications are due by April 24.

Students may audition on either the piano or the pipe organ. There is no application or audition fee.
