AUSTIN -- The funeral for Sydney Allen Magnuson will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church in Udolpho Township, with the Rev. Bruce Falksen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Magnuson, 74, of Austin, died Thursday (Feb. 3, 2005) at Sacred Heart Care Center.
He was born Oct. 25, 1930, in Lansing and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1948. He was active in 4-H in his youth and later operated a dairy and crop farm northwest of Austin. He enjoyed fixing Case-IH tractors, fishing and bowling. He was a member of Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church, where he was president of the congregation, taught Sunday school and enjoyed Bible camp; he was also a member of the Farm Bureau and Luther League.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Austin; a son, Barry (Sandra) of Austin; three daughters, Brenda (Larry) Qualey of Austin, Sherry (Michael) Shifflett of Blaine, Minn., and Sandra (Mark) Larkoski of Austin; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Elaine Larson, Carole DuMond and Gayla Russel; and two brothers, Burton and Dennis.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary in Austin and an hour before the service Monday at the church.
