From staff reports
Austin High School’s northwest entrance sustained damage Saturday afternoon when a trash can caught fire.
Firefighters responded around 2:50 p.m. to a report of the fire and extinguished a plastic container that was engulfed in flames, Police Chief Paul Philipp said. Part of the entrance’s exterior was damaged.
The container was on fire just outside the door near the intersection of Third Avenue and Fourth Street Northwest.
Philipp, who didn’t have a damage estimate Monday morning, said officials planned to check the school’s surveillance tape for possible suspects.
