MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Twins recalled outfielder Michael Restovich from Triple-A Rochester, on Monday and optioned first baseman Justin Morneau to the International League club.
Restovich, a native of Rochester (in Minnesota, not New York where the Twins' farm club resides), was hitting .267 with 16 homers and 65 RBIs in 409 at-bats for the Red Wings.
Morneau, a highly-touted prospect who had six hits in first 11 major-league at-bats last month, started only one game since the All-Star break and saw his batting average dip to .227. The Twins want him to play every day in the minors and try to rediscover his stroke.
