Two section title games being held at Winona State

A pair of section football championships will be played at Winona State University today.

Second-seeded Caledonia (10-0) will take on No. 1 WInona Cotter (9-1) at 4 p.m. in the Section One, Class AA title game. Top-seeded Kasson-Mantorville (10-0) will then play No. 2 Plainview/Elgin-Millville (9-1) in the Section One, Class AAA title game at 7:30 p.m.

Fans going to the second game may purchase tickets any time after halftime of the first game. Fans will then be allowed to watch the second half of the first game. But the stadium will be cleared of fans after the first game.

Fans who wish to watch all of both games will have to purchase tickets for both games.

Crossroads College opens seasontoday


The Crossroads College women's and men's basketball teams open the 2005-06 season tonight with a doubleheader at home against Vennard (Iowa)College at the Regional Sports Center at RCTC.

Jole Nordrum coaches the Crossroads women's team, which tips off at 5:30 p.m. tonight.

Carol Sylvester returns as the team's leading scorer and rebounder.

Jon Osterlund coaches the men's team, which plays after the women's game.
