From staff reports
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is holding an informational open house on the future of U.S. 14 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Dover-Eyota High School, 615 South Ave. in Eyota.
The state is considering improving U.S. 14 from the existing four-lane roadway near Rochester through Eyota, a stretch of about eight miles.
That stretch of highway has a 40 percent higher crash rate and crashes are 20 percent more severe than similar roadways in Minnesota, according to the transportation department. The department wants to identify deficiencies and develop solutions to safety, access and congestion problems.
