'U' tuition to jump 16%

Associated Press

University of Minnesota president Mark Yudof told regents Friday that tuition will rise 16 percent next year at the school's biggest campus in the Twin Cities.

Tuition and fees were previously expected to rise 13.6 percent next fall, compared to 13.5 percent last fall.

But, presenting an overview of the 2002-03 budget to the Board of Regents, Yudof said the jump will be higher due to funding cuts related to the state government's budget deficit.
