ROCHESTER -- Fire destroyed a vending machine and charred a building and portable outhouses Sunday at the Roy Watson Soccer Fields in northwest Rochester.
Police and firefighters were called to the facility at 1000 Essex Parkway N.W., about 9 p.m. Sunday after some children flagged down a police officer on patrol.
Police Capt. Jim Pittenger said officers found the pop vending machine burned, the recreation building charred and three portable toilets scorched. Damage is estimated at $3,000.
The fire has been ruled an arson.
