STEWARTVILLE -- The funeral for Velma Verona Langworthy will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville, with the Rev. Jef Olson officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville.
Mrs. Langworthy, 93, of 120 Sixth St. N.E., Stewartville, a homemaker, died Monday (July 15, 2002) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness.
Velma Verona Morgan was born Dec. 16, 1908, in Tower Hill, Ill., grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools and later moved with her family to Dakota County, Minn. On Dec. 21, 1927, she married Grant Langworthy in St. Paul. They farmed in the Wasioja area of Dodge County until 1948 and then in rural Racine until 1977, when they retired and moved to Stewartville. Mr. Langworthy died June 21, 1983. She was a member of the Stewartville United Methodist Church and its ladies aide, and Neighborhood Card Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Eileen (Norbert) Schroeder of Grand Meadow; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Welby Morgan of Conrad, Iowa; a half brother, Charles Morgan of Decatur, Ill.; and a half sister, Viola Morgan of Illinois.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
