Velva Mae Reese -- Goodhue

GOODHUE -- The funeral for Velva Mae Reese will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue, with the Rev. Andy Krause officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Goodhue.

Mrs. Reese, 73, of Goodhue, a former area farm homemaker, died Sunday morning (Aug. 22, 2004) at her home.

Velva Mae Hadler was born Jan. 26, 1931, in Zumbrota Township, Goodhue County, grew up on the family farm, attended a country school and graduated from Goodhue High School in 1949. On Sept. 23, 1949, she married Arthur J. Reese Jr. at Grace Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue. They farmed in Belvidere Township, Goodhue County, until 1992, when they retired and moved to Goodhue. Mrs. Reese was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing cards and flower gardening.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Janet (David) Burfeind of Goodhue and Carol (Dana) Frederixon of Zumbrota; a son, Allan of Goodhue; and nine grandchildren. An infant daughter preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and an hour before the service Wednesday at the church.
