ST. PAUL -- Flags on all state buildings will be flown at half-staff from sunrise Friday until sunset Saturday in honor of Sen. Sam Solon, Gov. Jesse Ventura has ordered.
Solon, 70, a DFLer from Duluth, died last Friday of cancer.
Ventura's proclamation said that Solon "was a man whose fondness for his beloved Duluth was evidenced in every aspect of his life: family, school, teaching career, legislative career and civic service."
Solon served in the Legislature for 30 years and was the second-most senior member of the Senate.
