ROCHESTER — The funeral Mass for Vera Mae Behan will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Timothy T. Reker officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Behan, 77, of Rochester, died Sunday (Nov. 9, 2008) at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in Minneapolis, of pneumonia.
Vera Kobliska was born May 25, 1931, in Chickasaw County, Iowa. She married Thomas Behan on Oct. 10, 1959, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Washington, Iowa. She lived most of her life in Rochester and worked in the food and dietary departments at Saint Marys Hospital and Samaritan Bethany Home on Eighth. Her husband was a school principal in the Rochester school system; he preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1985.
Mrs. Behan was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and was a volunteer at Charter House, Assisi Heights, and the Rochester school system. She received the Volunteer of the Year Award.
She is survived by two sons, Tom (Mika Spasojevich) of Minneapolis and Jim of Duluth, Minn.; two sisters, Sister Lois Kobliska of Rochester and Rita Kobliska of Milwaukee; and a brother, Leonard (Judy) Kobliska of Milwaukee. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Tynan, Licolle and Brennan; and a great-granddaughter, Natalie. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister.
