OWATONNA -- The funeral for Verna Clara Kruger will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Owatonna, with the Rev. David Droog officiating. Burial will be in the Red Oak Grove Cemetery in Mower County.
Mrs. Kruger, 88, of Owatonna, died Thursday (July 17, 2003) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Verna Johnson was born Sept. 20, 1914, in Blooming Prairie and was raised by the John and Hannah Wold family of Blooming Prairie after her mother's death. She married Willard Kruger April 3, 1937, and they farmed in Freeborn and Mower counties until moving to Owatonna in 1952. She worked for the Fairlane bowling center for 23 years as a cook, retiring in 1977.
Mrs. Kruger was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and received an award from Owatonna Hospital Auxiliary for doing 2000 hours of work.
She is survived by two daughters, Jurene (Don) Mortensen and JulieAnn Kruger of Owatonna; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two children, a brother, sister and half-sister.

Friends may call at the Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and at the church an hour before the service.
