Verna G. Tripp -- ROCHESTER

ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Verna G. Tripp will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester, with the Rev. John Schleicher officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Fountain Lutheran Cemetery in Fountain.

Mrs. Tripp, 93, of Rochester, died Wednesday (July 2, 2003) at Samaritan Bethany Heights in Rochester.

Verna G. Torkelson was born April 4, 1910, in Henrytown, Minn. She attended Kenyon schools. She married Elmer Vitse in 1928 in Rushford, and they farmed in the Preston area. He died in 1956. She married Francis Tripp in September 1958 in Spring Valley, where they lived until moving to Rochester in 1972. He died in 1990. She was a homemaker. She moved to Samaritan Bethany Heights in May 2000. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, needlepoint and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include two sons, Warren Vitse of Chatfield and Robert (Mary) Vitse of Harmony; two daughters, Lois (Donald) Storhoff of Reedsburg, Wis., and Charlotte (Jerry) Shanahan of Rochester; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, four sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Macken Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church.
