ROCHESTER -- A memorial service for Vernon Gunderson will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Linda Helberg officiating. The body was cremated. Interment will be in Faith Lutheran Church Cemetery in Blackhammer, Minn.
Mr. Gunderson, 87, of Rochester, died Monday (March 10, 2003) at Riverside Trace Health Care &; Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Freeborn County and attended public schools in Twin Lakes, Minn. He was a farm hand on the family farm and later was a tree trimmer in the Albert Lea area. In 1936, he married Grace Moen. They moved to Rochester in 1966, and he was self-employed in a janitorial service until his retirement. Mr. Gunderson was a Navy veteran and a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Ruby Rogeness of Chicago and Norma Tukua and Lillian Grasdalen, both of Albert Lea; and a brother, Ardell (Geraldine) of Albert Lea. He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister and two brothers.
Ranfranz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation or reviewal.
