HOUSTON -- The funeral for Violet Ann Norris will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, with the Rev. Louise Stromberg officiating. Burial will be in Stone Church Cemetery in Houston.
Mrs. Norris, 74, died of ovarian cancer Thursday (May 23, 2002) at her home.
Violet Ann Syverson was born March 8, 1928, in Twin Valley. She married Norman Norris on Dec. 26, 1950. In 1961, they moved to Houston. He died in 1985.
She worked for a few years as a store clerk at Skifton's Department Store and as a teller at Houston Security State Bank. But for most of her life, she was a homemaker. She enjoyed bike-riding, sewing and cooking. She was previously active in Eastern Star, the American Legion Auxiliary and at her church.
She is survived by three sons, John (Mary Beth) of Wabasha, Steven (Sherry) of Hutchinson and Michael (Maureen) of La Crescent; a daughter, Deborah (Larry Butler) Norris of Phoenix; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three sisters, Shirley Saum, Verna Torfin and Jean Rhinehart. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the church and an hour before the service Tuesday at the church. Hoff Funeral Homes Houston Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
