ROCHESTER — The funeral for Virginia M. McKenna will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Church of the Resurrection in Rochester; the Rev. Thomas Loomis will preside. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Worth, Ill.
Virginia Marie McKenna, 78, of Rochester, died Monday (April 14, 2008) at Charter House, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Chicago. She received a bachelor’s degree in harp performance from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and a master’s degree in library science from Rosary College in River Forest, Ill. She served as librarian at Evanston Township (Ill.) High School and Kankakee (Ill.) Regional High School. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega and the National Library Association. She retired briefly to Raleigh, N.C., from 1992 to 2000, then moved to Rochester.
Survivors include a brother, Dr. Charles (Dr. Ursula) McKenna of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Charles McKenna, and a sister, Mrs. Clement J. Michet Sr.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service Friday at the church.
