STEWARTVILLE — The Section One, Class A softball tournament will get stretched out one more day after rain and lightning caused a nail-biter of a championship game to be suspended on Wednesday.

Faribault Academies led Wabasha-Kellogg 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth when lightning was seen to the west of Stewartville’s Bear Cave City Park.
The game is scheduled to be completed today at 5 p.m., picking up where it left off.
Wabasha-Kellogg’s Anna Brehmer was at the plate to lead off the bottom of the sixth when the game was stopped.
Faribault Academies scored the only run of the game so far in the top of the sixth when Katie Riche’s single to shallow right field drove in Nicole Pothen.
The winner of the Section 1A final will meet the Section 3A champion — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s or Murray County Central — in the first round of the state tournament June 7 in Mankato.
