MANKATO — Robert Wahlert pitched a no-hitter on Friday night to lead the Austin American Legion baseball team to a win in the first round of the weekend Mankato Tournament.
Wahlert blew through the batting order of Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop and had five strikeouts for Austin Post 91 in the 15-0 win in five innings.
The boys from Post 91 hit the ball right from the start as they scored 10 runs in the top of the first inning. Steven Rizzi and Mark Harber each hit triples for Austin in the game.
Rizzi had a big game at the plate with a single, double, and triple. A bases-clearing triple from Rizzi, which scored three runs, highlighted the big uprising for the Austin Legion.

Post 91 kept the offense rolling and later added five more runs to the total. This resulted in the invocation of the 10-run rule as Post 91 put an end to a losing streak.
