Wal-Mart’s super center in Austin will offer a Subway restaurant and SmartStyle hair salon when it opens likely in mid-July, a company official said.

The super center along 18th Avenue Northwest also will have a Wal-Mart Family Fun Center for arcade-style games and Wal-Mart MoneyCenter for financial services, including check cashing and money transfers, spokeswoman Amy Wyatt-Moore said Thursday.

All four places will be located in the front of the super center, Wyatt -Moore said.

The Subway in Wal-Mart will be the national sandwich chain’s third location in Austin, with other Subway restaurants along Oakland Avenue West and Fourth Street Northwest.

SmartStyle hair salons, owned by Regis Corp., are located only in Wal-Mart stores.

Wal-Mart plans to open a hiring center Monday at rental space in a commercial strip at 105 11th Ave. N.E. near the Spam Museum. About 300 to 350 people will be hired for the store.

Lee Kruse, store manager of the Austin Wal-Mart, will be at the hiring center, which will run from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays in the initial weeks, Wyatt-Moore said. Associates for all levels, including management, can apply there.

Construction started in May 2007 on the store, which will be about 190,000 square feet.

Wal-Mart will run 24 hours a day on its more than 40 acres in the 900 to 1200 blocks of 18th Avenue Northwest, north of Oak Park Mall.
