Walker Art Center to present films

MINNEAPOLIS — The Walker Art Center will present the series "Cinemateca," highlighting films from the Nuevo Cine Mexicano (New Mexican Cinema) movement.

All screenings take place in the Walker cinema. Tickets to each film are $8 for non-members, $6 for members and are available at or by calling (612) 375-7600.

Screenings are as follows:

  • Nov. 1, 7:30 p.m., Lourdes Portillo and Susana Munoz’s "La Ofrenda: Dia de los Muertos." There is no admission charge for this screening.
  • Nov. 2, 8 p.m., Daniel Gruener’s "Never on a Sunday (Morirse en Domingo)."
  • Nov. 3, 7:30 p.m., Eva Aridjis’ "Saint Death (La Santa Muerte)."
  • Nov. 9, 8 p.m., Gerardo Naranjo’s "Drama/Mex."
  • Nov. 15, 7:30 p.m., Eva Norvind’s "Born Without (Nacindo Sin)." There is no admission charge for this screening.
  • Nov. 16, 8 p.m., Francisco Vargas’ "The Violin (El Violin)."
