LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- Chad Boudon hit a two-run homer, and David Dowling combined with two relievers on a seven-hitter as Washington eliminated Minnesota with a 4-1 victory in the NCAA Baseball Regional Championship.
Dowling (7-2) allowed one unearned run in 62⁄3; innings in his first start of the season, and Trent Baysinger and Will Fenton finished up for Washington (42-17), which will play Long Beach in the regional final on Sunday. Jon Becker had two hits and an RBI for Minnesota (40-22).
Earlier Saturday, Scott Welch hit a go-ahead RBI single in Minnesota's five-run ninth and the Gophers came from behind to eliminate Pepperdine 7-5 in the double-elimination tournament.
Trailing 5-2 heading into the ninth, Sam Steidl hit an RBI single, Ben Pattee and Luke Appert followed with back-to-back RBI doubles to tie it for Minnesota.
