Wayne A. Clare — Lake City

LAKE CITY — A celebration of life memorial service for Wayne A. Clare will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lake City Sportsman Club; Chaplain Dan Johnson will officiate.

Mr. Clare, 66, of Lake City, died Tuesday (Nov. 11, 2008) at his home, of cancer.

Wayne Alfred Clare was born July 20, 1942, in Lake City. He attended Lake City schools, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1960. He lived in the Lake City area his entire life. He served in the Navy from Jan. 27, 1965, to May 26, 1967. On May 23, 1970, he married Diane E. Bremer at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City.

Mr. Clare was a rural mail carrier for 27 years. He restored and owned many autos, including Porsches, Alphas, Corvettes, Ford Mustangs, Lotuses, Morgans, M.G. Triumphs, and also Triumph motorcycles. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially pheasant hunting, mushroom hunting, and motorcycling. He held a pilot’s license and owned his own planes. For 12 years he served on the Zumbro Falls Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Daryl of Lake City; two sisters, Mary (Del) Ziemann of Zimmerman, Minn., and Kathy (Bob) Wright of Goodhue. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Rachel (Shea) Clare; and a sister.

Friends may visit an hour before the service Saturday at the Lake City Sportsman Club.

Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel is handling arrangements.
