ST. PAUL (AP) -- The Minnesota Wild signed goalie Johan Holmqvist Tuesday to a multiyear contract.
Holmqvist, 25, was acquired by the Wild in March from the New York Rangers. He went 5-3 with a 2.88 goals-against average for Minnesota's AHL affiliate, the Calder Cup champion Houston Aeros, and was named the league's playoff MVP.
A native of Sweden, Holmqvist was originally drafted by the Rangers in the seventh round of the 1997 draft. He's played a total of four NHL games.
