William A. Boyd — Plainview

PLAINVIEW — The funeral for William A. Boyd will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview, with the Rev. Thien Nguyen officiating. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Mr. Boyd, 61, of New Hope, Minn., died Friday (July 25, 2008) in St. Louis Park, Minn., of heart failure.

He was born Dec. 25, 1946, in Plainview. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1965 and from the Minneapolis Vo-Tech in 1967. He was drafted into the Army later in 1967 and served a tour in Vietnam. He was discharged in 1973. He then served in the Army Reserve until retiring from the service in 1992.

Mr. Boyd resided in New Hope for more than 30 years and was a mechanic for Xcel Energy for many years. He enjoyed antiques, garage sales, and his flower garden.

He is survived by a sister, Ethel E. Boyd of Rochester; and five brothers, Edward R. (Carol) of Auburndale, Fla., LaVerne W. (Dorothy) of Plainview, Donald J. (Ann) of Rochester, Robert L. (Sharon) of Mechanicsville, Iowa, and Russell C. of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell L. and Eleanora (McGrath) Boyd.


Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Schad & Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. There will be a Rosary at 5:15 p.m. today.
