Wilmer P. 'Bud' Michels -- Rose Creek

ROSE CREEK -- The funeral Mass for Wilmer P. "Bud" Michels will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rose Creek, with the Rev. Ruben Spinler officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Mr. Michels, 86, of Rose Creek, died Friday (July 14, 2006) at the Adams Healthcare Center.

Born May 14, 1920, in Liberty Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, he attended Visitation Catholic School in Stacyville, Iowa. On Nov. 28, 1944, he married Marita Smith at St. John's Catholic Church in Johnsburg. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rose Creek, served on the Rose Creek School Board, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Adams Council 3812 since 1944. He enjoyed all sports, playing cards, reading and country music.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda (Arnold) Felten of Rose Creek; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ethel Bissen of Stewartville, Ruth Olson of Waterloo, Iowa, and Hazel Heimer of Stacyville, Iowa; and two brothers, Joe "Pete" of Kenosha, Wis., and John "Jack" of Osage, Iowa. He was preceded in death by a sister.

There will be a 7 p.m. KC rosary today at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friends may also call an hour before the service Tuesday at the church.
