Winona tops Austin in boys hockey finale

The Austin boys hockey team lost its regular-season finale 4-1 to Winona on Thursday night at Riverside Arena.

This gave the Packers a split of the season series with the Winona Winhawks. Austin has now lost seven straight games overall to end the regular season.

The setback in the final regular-season game was also the seventh straight loss in the Big Nine Conference for the Austin boys. The Packers finished 2-16 in the conference.

Austin (5-20 overall) is the fifth seed in the upcoming Section 1A Tournament and will host Sleepy Eye in the first round on Tuesday night at Riverside Arena.
