OSAKIS, Minn. -- An Osakis woman was being held Wednesday after allegedly trying to drown her young son.
Law-enforcement authorities and medical personnel responded to her 911 call just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and found her 18-month-old son, who had been in Osakis Lake for an undetermined amount of time.
The boy was taken to Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, where he was in satisfactory condition Wednesday.
Todd County Sheriff David Kircher said alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the attempted drowning and that the 38-year-old woman has "cooperated to a certain degree." The woman was being held in the Todd County jail.
It was not known if she has other children. She moved from San Francisco to Minnesota just a few months ago.
