CROOKSTON, Minn. -- A woman who called 911 to say she was trapped by a fire in her apartment died early Friday, police said.
The fire broke out just before midnight in the apartment of Karen Aho, 38. Rescue crews were unable to get to her immediately because of heavy smoke and heat in her apartment, police said.
A preliminary investigation by a deputy state fire marshal and the Crookston fire department indicated the fire started accidentally in the kitchen, police said.
